When your music is converted, it is important to understand that it is not just the song that is important. Every digital song has metadata that is ‘attached’ to it. Metadata provides valuable information that enhances your digital experience such as: song title, artist, album, year, and genre to name a few.

Without this information, you would have hundreds if not thousands of songs referred to as: Track1, Track489, and Track3874 with no other data to help you find your music or display it as feedback on your iPod or a touchpanel.

Metadata is accessed 2 ways:
1. From public databases that is based off of user input which opens up the possibility for spelling and grammatical errors and proper capitalization as examples.
2. From proprietary databases that ensure accurate metadata based off of content creation and responsibility of the results.

To avoid the inconsistent and poorly formatted results from public databases Ripping Revolution™ has chosen to partner with Get Digital Data and use their professional GD3 database providing rich metadata for our customers. Get Digital Data is also a founding member of the MediaPro Alliance.

Disc Numbering

• As basic as it sounds, the disc numbers manifest themselves into multiple formats:
Disc1, [Disc1], (Disc1), Vol. 1, . . .

SongSweeper™ makes sure every instance is consistently named.

Greatest Hits and Best of

• We have found that results are correct when they list “Greatest Hits” as the album. However, if you have 10 different artists with “Greatest Hits” albums, they will all be listed with no way to distinguish one from the other when you sort by album.

SongSweeper™ appends the artist name to the album title to allow you to differentiate it amongst the other artists. Example: Greatest Hits, Bob Seger

Genre Matching

• Historically music had a few default genres that were incorrectly used or not used at all.

• As an example, SongSweeper™ ensures that your Rock genre contains Rock music and not Pop music instead of the often wrongly used Rock/Pop genre.

SongSweeper™ utilizes over 20 different genres to help enhance your listening pleasure so when you want to shuffle your music by genre you get to listen to everything that genre has to offer.

Capitalization Errors

• A frustrating problem with ripping companies that do not employ any error checking will turn out results that have basic capitalization and syntax errors that are overlooked.

• Common errors such as all lower cased words, or words that are completely capitalized.

SongSweeper™ will groom each word in your music collection to ensure that when you get feedback on your iPod or music server that all appropriate words are capitalized.
